PROUD Thursday Online
PROUD THURSDAY is a celebratory event where students can show off the work they are proud of, to members of SLT and their peers.
Hundreds of students look forward to the event every week, where they receive praise and congratulations for their efforts on a wide variety of work.
As we all try to adapt with the way the coronavirus has impacted on our lives, and we have had to change our way of living and being educated, our academies don’t want to lose the really good things that enrich our students’ experiences. So Northern Education Trust North Shore has set up an electronic PROUD THURSDAY.
Students can email their work to the academy, and Mr Murphy and SLT will look at every single item and respond with positive, congratulatory comments. Students are being encouraged to send documents, photos and videos of whatever piece of work they are most proud of that week, and staff will publish examples through the website and social media. They’ll also get an electronic certificate and perhaps even a rewards voucher that can be redeemed online.
Andrew Murphy, Principal, said: “We are very PROUD of our school community and the value they place on education. Lots of parents/ carers are ringing the academy and telling us how hard their child is working. We want to keep recognising the hard work of our pupils by having a forum to share that work with staff. We want to see lots of examples of not only school work they are PROUD of but also what else they are doing that would make us PROUD. This might be helping prepare dinner or going above and beyond in the house helping others”
Some other schools do similar things with many others visiting North Shore to see how PROUD Thursday works. If people are interested, we have lots of information already on our website and on our social media. I would very much like this to become a Tees-Valley initiative where we encourage pupils to show us what they are PROUD of every Thursday.
