Uniform & Equipment
Northern Education Trust believes that students learn most effectively and achieve their best outcomes when they are comfortable, able to be themselves, and are dressed in such a way that sets an appropriate tone for education.
A consistent academy uniform policy is vital to promote the ethos of the academy and provide a sense of belonging and identity for all students, regardless of their protected characteristics or socio-economic circumstances.
Our uniform policy lays out the measures taken to ensure a consistent, fair and inclusive uniform policy; to implement a uniform that reflects the needs of all students; and a uniform that is affordable and the best value for money for the academy and students’ parents/carers.
Students must wear full academy uniform at all times when they are within the academy or on an academy visit, unless otherwise stated.

Update on School Uniform Policy - May 2026
Equipment
We expect that students always bring the following items into the academy:
- A suitable school bag
- Need to Know book
- Planner
- Books (supplied by the academy)
- Stationery – Pen, pencil and ruler
All Students
- Full uniform is required to be worn properly in the academy.
- Shirts should be plain white and remain tucked in.
- Blazers must be worn at all times on and around the academy site unless the principal states otherwise in cases of extreme hot weather; within classes students may ask their teacher for permission to remove blazers.
- Trousers should be plain black with absolutely no logos or highly noticeable zips etc. They must be appropriate school trousers with a loose leg fit and not jeggings, jeans or pencil tight trousers.
- Students must wear plain black shoes with no stripes, large or coloured bows, clips or badges.
- If your child is wearing uniform items that are non-compliant with the above they will be instructed to wear items provided by the academy.
Boys Only
- Plain black tailored trousers (see above)
- All students wearing trousers must wear plain black socks with no logo.
Girls Only
- Skirts must be of an acceptable length and should sit on the knee and must be pleated and not tight fitting. Must be worn with minimum 60 denier tights.
- Trousers should be plain black with absolutely no logos or highly noticeable zips etc. and must be appropriate loose leg school trousers and not jeggings, jeans or pencil tight trousers.
- All students wearing trousers must wear plain black socks with no logo.
- Hair accessories must be black, purple or a neutral colour. Hair accessories should be modest and simple. E.g. grips, clips, bobbles and small scrunchies.
PE Kit
Academy polo shirt with logo is required for Y7. Optional matching shorts and socks can be purchased from stocklists. Alternatively plain black shorts or socks can be purchased from multiple retailers. Y8 – Y11 may wear a plain black t-shirt/polo with the transition to an academy branded polo shirt complete for September 2027.
Equipment
- All students must have a school bag with planner, pen, pencil, eraser and ruler.
Jewellery
- No jewellery, make-up or nail varnish allowed.
- No exceptions. A wrist watch is the only item students are now able to wear.
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones/ smartwatches and other electronic technology must be switched off at the academy gate, kept out of view and remain switched off until students exit the academy gate at the end of the day. If a child is seen with any of the items above in the academy, they will be confiscated, placed in the safe, and will only be returned to a parent/carer.
Hair Styles
Hair styles must be simple and any hair colouring must look natural.
The Academy does not permit hairstyles that reflect the extremes of fashion – unnatural or extravagant colours, extensions, beads or designs cut into the hair are not permitted.
