  • North Shore Academy celebrates GCSE results North Shore Academy celebrates GCSE results

    Students at North Shore Academy, one of twelve secondary academies sponsored by Northern Education Trust, have achieved a strong level of improvement on 2019 GCSE results. The Academy has also shown good improvement in the number of passes in English and Maths. Over 70% of students achieved a pass at grade 4 or higher in English and Maths, demonstrating an improvement of 7% on the results in 2019.

    There were some outstanding individual successes:

    • Anh Dang – achieved grade 9 in Chemistry, French and History and grade 8 in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Biology and Physics. She also achieved a distinction star in Health and Social Care.
    • Finn Buckley – achieved grade 9 in Maths, History and Physics and grade 8 in English Literature, Biology and Chemistry.
    • Tyler Holliday – achieved grade 9 in English Language and History, grade 8 in Maths and English Literature, and grade 7 in Chemistry and Physics.
    • Layla Walsh – achieved grade 9 in English Language, grade 8 in English Literature and Art, and grade 7 in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

    Michael Garthwaite, Principal of North Shore Academy thanked the students and staff for their efforts and commitment, saying: “I’m pleased that the hard work and commitment of our students has been rewarded with these results. It makes their effort and dedication worthwhile, and I’d like to thank the staff for their continued passion for ensuring our students succeed”.

    Andrew Murphy, Executive Principal of North Shore Academy added his praise, saying: “Students and staff are to be congratulated for these results, and should be very proud of what they’ve accomplished. They have all worked incredibly hard to achieve at these levels, and the results reflect the dedication and commitment they have shown”.

    Rob Tarn CBE, Chief Executive of Northern Education Trust, said “These results reflect the hard work and commitment of the staff and students within the academy. The year on year improvement demonstrates the ongoing quality of education provided by the academy, and the exceptional desire of the students to succeed. We aim to enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care, and these results are the culmination of their incredible efforts and dedication, allowing them to progress to the next stage of their lives with confidence in their abilities to succeed. We are extremely proud of our students and wish them every success with their futures”.
